FIGMENT Announces NYC 2010 Dates, Opens Submissions for Season-Long Projects
We are thrilled to announce the dates for FIGMENT NYC 2010 and invite artists and audiences to become a part of the project. FIGMENT 2010 will be held on June 11-13, 2010, on Governors Island in New York Harbor.
FIGMENT NYC 2010 will be our fourth annual free participatory arts event. In 2009, over 13,000 participants came to FIGMENT to interact and engage with over 400 participatory arts projects in every conceivable medium, including interactive sculpture, performance, music, social experiments, games, and lectures. This year we expect FIGMENT to grow again, and will be accepting submissions for the FIGMENT event beginning on February 15.
In addition to the FIGMENT event, we are pleased to announce three Calls for Participation that are now open for projects on Governors Island to be installed for the entire season:
Call for Proposals: City of Dreams Pavilion
An architectural design competition, in partnership with the Emerging New York Architects (ENYA) Committee of the AIA and the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY). The pavilion will be designed and built by the wining entrant to the design competition, to be selected by an independent jury. This competition is unique in that it asks designers to source their materials as part of the design, and to have as little environmental impact as possible in the sourcing, construction, and de-installation of the pavilion. Reused materials, or materials that can be reused after the pavilion comes down, are of special interest here.
Registration deadline: February 8
Submission deadline: February 16

Call for Proposals: FIGMENT Minigolf
Artists are invited to submit designs for the highly successful FIGMENT Minigolf Course, which has appeared on Governors Island in 2008 and 2009, and has entertained tens of thousands of visitors to the island.
Submission deadline: March 1

FIGMENT plans to host an exhibition of interactive sculpture on Governors Island for the second year in a row, and invites your submissions of artwork. Artists are welcome to submit both existing pieces and proposals for new pieces, but all work must be interactive in some way.
