Update: FIGMENT Fundraising 2010

26 March 2010 No Comment

We are excited to announce that so far, FIGMENT projects have received 5 grants this year. BRAF, LMCC and NYC DCA are supporting various FIGMENT projects.

Out of over 300 submissions, the Black Rock Arts Foundation chose 2 FIGMENT projects to support. BRAF has collaborated with FIGMENT in past years; they provided initial funding for the first ever FIGMENT Mini-Golf Course in 2008. This time around, no less than 2 of 12 or so BRAF grant submissions for FIGMENT projects have made it to their final selection. We are thrilled to have BRAF help launch the first year of FIGMENT Boston, on June 5. BRAF has also awarded a grant to help fund the Animus Arts Collective’s 1000 Pieces Project for FIGMENT NYC’s season-long sculpture garden (June – October).

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council has also provided two grants – their Fund for Creative Communities supports FIGMENT New York on June 11-13, and thanks to LMCC’s Swing Space Grant, FIGMENT has a Lower Manhattan office space as a workplace and place for our teams to meet.

FIGMENT’s fifth grant thus far in 2010 is from the Cultural Development Fund, from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. This is FIGMENT’s first direct grant from a NYC agency, and we are very excited to grow our relationship with the DCA in the future.

Our fundraising efforts are gearing up, and we’re looking forward to hearing back about several other grant applications (fingers are crossed) and we are excited to see many FIGMENT supporters at our upcoming Groundbreaking art preview & reception event on April 28! Details coming soon!
