FIGMENT 2012: Detroit and Washington, DC
Calls for Participation still open!

(c) 2011 Eraj Asadi

FIGMENT, a free participatory arts event held in multiple cities and attracting tens of thousands of participants each year, is still seeking artists for its 2012 events in Detroit and Washington, DC.

Founded in 2007 on New York City’s Governors Island with a handful of projects and a few thousand enthusiasts, FIGMENT has grown exponentially into a multi-day, multi-city event that drew over 30,000 participants in Jackson, MS, Boston, NYC, and Detroit in 2011. With the addition of Washington, DC, in 2012, FIGMENT continues its mission to offer free, inclusive and participatory art to entire communities, removing the barriers of museum and gallery walls and entrance fees and blurring the lines between those who create and those who enjoy art.

ARTISTS!

FIGMENT welcomes works in every imaginable medium including sculpture, installation, performance, music, workshops, games, experiences, site-specific pieces, social experiments, and any combination thereof. Projects that involve audience participation and interactivity are particularly encouraged. Anything can be a project: You can bring a game, an experiment, a request, a challenge, a guided meditation, a performance based on audience input, a sculpture that moves or responds, a heart-stopping technological innovation that changes the way we see the world… Anything that gets people working and playing and creating together. When you have something you want to share with the world, FIGMENT is the perfect place to start doing just that!
