Explosion of participatory art on the East Coast

Summer has kicked off in an amazing way! The first ever FIGMENT Jackson was a wonderful success; FIGMENT Boston is getting ready to celebrate an abundance of creativity this weekend; you can still submit your project for FIGMENT Detroit in August. FIGMENT NYC has taken over Governors Island's Liggett Terrace for the summer! For opening weekend alone, an estimated 30,000 people visited Governors Island, strolled across the Sculpture Garden and putted away on our Minigolf Course. Our FIGMENT Team is going full throttle preparing for FIGMENT NYC Weekend June 10-12. YOU are the one making the magic happen. Join us on the island this summer for some unforgettable participatory art and creative culture!

Coming soon to an island near you

From June 10-12, New York City's Governors Island will be transformed to one big playground of participatory art and creative energy. For its fifth consecutive year, FIGMENT is taking over the island, turning it into a large-scale collaborative artwork for a weekend - and then it's gone. Join us for a FREE, annual celebration of participatory art and culture where everything is possible! For more information on FIGMENT NYC 2011, go to our Event Page. To see what we have in store this year, click here for a preview of our 2011 registered projects and artists. We look forward to seeing you in June!

Bring your project to FIGMENT NYC 2011

Yes, submissions for the FIGMENT NYC 2011 weekend are closed. But we would still love to have you and your art project on Governors Island for the event! Even though submissions are closed, we want to encourage everyone to bring their art with them to FIGMENT - whatever it is, and in whatever media. As long as you can hand-carry your project onto the ferry (and it adheres to the FIGMENT Principles), feel free to bring it to Governors Island and be part of FIGMENT Weekend! Read more...
